The United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) Spartans coach Willis Okeyo has released his final squad ahead of their maiden appearance at the 2018 Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC).
Okeyo believes his team is well set for their debut in the ACCC after a splendid 2017 season where they qualified for the continental fete after a top two finish behind Kenya Hockey Union women’s Premier League champions Telkom.
“I have a young team which most of the players will be featuring in an international competition for the first time spare for a few individuals who have previously featured for the National team. I believe they are all confident and they will put in their best,” said Okeyo. “We are finalizing on our preparations for the championship and we are more than ready for the competition,” he added.
The team is expected to leave on Thursday, 13th December 2018 and will be captained by Grace Makokha, the ACCC is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, 15th December 2018.
In this year’s edition, Kenya will only be represented by Telkom and USIU-A after the two men’s sides Kenya Police and Butali Warriors pulled out of the tournament.
