Telkom extended their dominance over Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with a narrow 1-0 win in the ongoing Africa Cup of Club Hockey Championship, a result that elevated them to the summit of the ladies’ table standings.
Theresa Juma scored the all-important goal six minutes from time, condemning GRA to their first defeat of the tournament. The win takes Telkom three points clear at the top and are almost assured of a place in the finals scheduled for Sunday 28th January.
Jos Openda’s side have now beaten GRA six consecutive times since 2012.
The defending Champions now shift focus to their final group match against Ghana Police, who thumped Yobe Desert Queens 4-0 on Wednesday to move level on points with colleagues GRA at nine.
As Telkom reveled in another victory, Strathmore University’s woes continued with a heavy 4-1 loss to Nigeria’s KADA Queens. Florence Oghenerobor , Noredia Nwagboe, Alfa John and Aitua Adagboyin were all on target for KADA while Gilly Akumu scored the consolation goal for the Scorpions.
The loss is Strathmore’s fourth in the competition and leaves them bottom of the table standings without a point.
The students will have one more chance of atleast recording a win when they face Yobe Desert Queens in their last match on Thursday.
