Surprise JKUAT, KU displays and Goal Bevvies Rock Weekend

It was truly a weekend of firsts and goals. In the women’s premier league, an early morning encounter between Blazers and KU Titans resulted in a 2-1 outcome in favor of Blazers. This was after the victors had to struggle to achieve the second goal against the relegation-zone placed team. The results, nevertheless, expand the already solid lead held by Blazers at the peak of the women’s premier league.

Sliders Fall to JKUAT

In an even more interesting turn, bottom-placed JKUAT won 1-0 against Sliders on Sunday. The win diminishes the certain relegation they faced as of the previous week. Any possible win in any of their future matches putting them in contention against KU Titans. While overall sentiments are highly against this possibility, only the end of the league will truly seal their fate.

PSC Seemingly Out

Meanwhile, the match between Greensharks and the Kenya Police yielded a rearrangement of the men’s premier league table. In a six-goal experience of shared spoils, Police advanced to the third position while the Sharks dropped to fourth. At the same time, Parklands Sports Club seems determined to slump into the Super League. Despite their new away kit and multiple chances to capitalize on a seemingly poorly-drafted Dime Sailors’ team, PSC ultimately recorded a deserved loss. A brace by Sailors’ Ammon Esese effectively extinguished any hope for PSC to survive the relegation battle.

With only a few matches remaining in all the leagues, the top and bottom slots seem to be gradually being assigned their owners. Some will survive, others will prevail, but the sure thing is that someone will fall.

Have a productive week ahead.
