St. Anthony’s, Misikhu win big in day one of KSSSA Hockey Nationals

St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale and St. Cecilia Misikhu Girls were the big winners in the day one of Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association Hockey national games played at the Shanzu Teachers Training College in Mombasa.

St. Anthony’s beat St. Georges from Mombasa 3-0 with a brace from Lorgan Mabuka and one goal from Oscar Kiptoo, St. Cecilia Misikhu girls also beat Hillcrest with a three-goal margin with goals from Shenyi Marinda, Sharon Simiyu and Rachael Khamala.

Speaking to Kevin Lugalia, the St. Anthony’s coach after the match, he believes it’s a good start in the championship. “We have started off well, and we will keep on the fight until the last minute. We want to take each match at a time because this isa championship and anything can happen,” said Lugalia.

Boys pool B: St. Anthony’s vs St. Georges (3-0), MPESA Foundation vs Meru School (0-1)

Girls pool A: St. Josephs Kibwezi vs St. Marys Taachasis (1-0), St. Johns Kaloleni vs Nyamira (1-1)

Girls pool B: Bura vs Kerugoya (0-0), St Cecilia Misiikhu vs Hillcrest (3-0)
