The Kenyatta University Vultures’ captain Solomon Mbandi believes his team is more than ready to take on Chase Sailors in their midweek Kenya Hockey Union men’s Super League match at the City Park Stadium today.
Speaking to the defender, he noted that the match is a tough and unpredictable one but believes they are ready. “This match is like a derby to us since many of our former teammates are plying their trade there, last season they were given easy walk-over points but this time it will not be easy for them because we are more than ready for them,” said Mbandi.
The skipper was also quick to praise his teammates on their last two matches where they went away to play Mombasa based outfits Mvita and Mombasa Sports Club. “We have trained well since our last match and everyone is at his best and also coming back with four points from Mombasa is one thing that I believe has boosted everyone’s psychology and readiness for the next matches,” added on Mbandi.
On the other hand, Chase Sailors captain Hesbon Galinga has put his expectations high as he believes the match is a must win for them because of their position on the league standings as they seek to get promotion to the men’s Premier League. “We need to stay at the top of the table and set the pace, we are playing for maximum points in all the remaining eight matches therefore we are going into this match expecting nothing less than a win,” said Galinga.
Chase Sailors are leading the standings having lost only one in 12 matches while Vultures are placed second last having won only two in 10 matches.
