DeKUT Humble Impala, Bungoma Farmers Harvest Mixed Results

Dedan Kimathi University announced their arrival at the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU)Men’s National League with a resounding 4-1 victory over Impala Club at the City Park on Sunday May 13, 2018.

DeKUT, who were playing their first game since being incorporated into the Kenya Hockey competitive league, went trailing in the 26th minute when Collins Madegwa scored for Impala via a field goal. Terrence Webwana however initiated the comeback for the Nyeri-based University with an equalizer in the 39th minute before Sutcliffe Usagi got them leading for the first time with his 50th minute strike.

A minute later, DeKUT were 3-1 up courtesy of Wilson Mutua’s goal, one that did not go down well with some of Impala’s players who complained that the ball had already gone out of play. Clinton Indago took his complaints too far by shoving an umpire and was immediately shown a red card, reducing his side to ten men. DeKUT took advantage of numbers by adding a fourth one in the 59th minute to seal the convincing 4-1 victory.

Bungoma Farmers went back home with three points following a 2-1 win over Karate Axiom on Sunday May 13. Bungoma, who had lost 3-0 to Parkroad Tigers a day earlier, bagged the win thanks to goals from Samuel Ogaji and Emmanuel Matala.
