After downing former champions Strathmore University in western in the past weekend, Western Jaguars will be out to continue with their good start in the 2019 season as they will be in Nairobi for a double fixture in the men’s premier league. Saturday will see the Peter Okova’s boys take on Parklands Sports Club in a match Parklands skipper Kelly Adolwa says is a must win encounter. Over the years in their meetings, it has been a tight and close run for both teams. The last meeting seeing 6 goals netted in western as both teams went on a 3 all draw. This will be an exciting encounter as both teams are looking for a second win in the 2019 season. Sunday will see Jaguars square it out with another perennial rival Sikh Union. The Inderjit Matharu’s boys who are still nursing a loss in the past weekend against Wazalendo are promising to thrush jaguars who narrowly beat them in Kakamega in the last season. Jaguars who will however leave nothing to chance in their quest to take home maximum points in their first outing this season. Green sharks will also be in action against varsity side USIU-A. With both teams having already registered a loss each, they will come out guns blazing to try and salvage the situation on their ends as they look to return to winning ways.
In the Women Premier League, newly promoted side Lakers will be seeking their maiden win in the Women top tier league as they host Sliders on Saturday afternoon at the Simba Union grounds Kisumu. Boasting of a youthful side and having beefed up the squad, Lakers are confident of bagging maximum points from their guests. On the other hand, after registering a draw against KU Titans and going down 2-0 to USIU-A in their last fixture, Sliders will come guns blazing as they seek to bag maximum points from their outing and give them a boost in their confidence moving forward. Sunday will see a mouth-watering encounter as Amiras face KU Titans. Having fished some players from the side, Amiras who held defending champions Telkom to a barren draw will be out to get a win against their name. On the flip side, Titans will be coming to show the sailors that though punctured, they still have what it needs to battle it out in the top tier league especially after a barren draw against Sliders
Down at the Coast, fast rising TUK will be seeking to improve their chances of being promoted to the top tier league when they play their double fixture in the Coastal town. Saturday will see MSC men host the university lads and Sunday will be Mvita’s turn to host the lads. TUK is travelling to the coast well aware that the outing is not going to be an easy one as most teams have dropped points to the 2 sides down at the Coast. Back in the capital City, relegated KCAU will on Sunday welcome fellow relegated side Nakuru in the midday tie.
In the women super league tie, debutants TUK will be in action as they host Nakuru in their season openers. Nakuru who are seeking promotion this time round are banking on the experience of their players to out shine TUK and continue with their impressive run through the season. UoN Vigilantes, will also welcome MSC women in the other super League Women tie. Sunday will see MSC finish their Nairobi outing when they play against MMU. Having beaten Vikings at the Coast in the past weekend, it gives them an upper hand in the outing in Nairobi.
In the men’s National League, Parkroad Tigers will invite Thika Rovers in the only fixture of the National league tie. Having drawn against Karate in their season opening match, Thika Rovers will be seeking a win to boost their confidence in the remainder of the season.
