Uphill battle for USIU-A students

United States International University (USIU-A), who are placed fourth on the league table, will be facing an uphill battle as they take on league leaders Kenya Police in their Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier league match at the City park stadium.

The students have lost one match in their last five compared to the league top contenders Kenya Police who are so far unbeaten. According to Kenya Police defender Robert Masibo, he believes the match is important to the team as any other and they will not take any chances.”Our target is the league title and no team will keep us away from the prize,” said Masibo.

On the other hand the Thika-road based students come into the match as underdogs but Kenyan International Neville Mulupi believes the team is in high spirits to take the win home. “Our target is to finish in the top three and that means it will be business as usual for us,” said Mulupi. The last time the two met in the first leg Kenya Police won 3-1.

In another men’s Premier league match Chase Sailors will take on Sikh Union Nairobi in a mid table encounter as both teams seek to redeem themselves after a series of poor results in their last matches. Sikh Union having won two matches in their last five matches while the bankers have won only one in their last five matches. The Sailors face a tough task as they dangle close to the bottom of the table. Their relegation fears are real especially after their midweek loss to Greensharks.

In the men’s National League there will be a battle for the coastal region supremacy in a Mombasa derby match as Mvita take on Mombasa Sports Club as the promotion battle heats up.
