The Kenya Hockey Union last weekend ushered in the second leg of this season, with sensational confrontations between Strathmore Gladiators and Nairobi Simba as well as Wazalendo versus Police. As the latter half of the season kicks off, the hockey weekends are back.
Part of the new goodies with the second leg is the launching of the Master League. With the absence of the Veterans Club last weekend giving it a false start, expectations are that Impala Veterans and Parkroad Veterans will not disappoint in the coming one.
In the men’s premier league this weekend, Green Sharks face Parklands Hockey Club in a head to head encounter. There are high expectations from both teams, despite Parklands falling short to Butali Warriors last weekend. Following an interview with the Green Sharks captain Victor Osiche, he had it that, “we are up to the task and we are ready to take one match at a time. My team is determined to win with whatever margin. The match is relatively challenging but we hope to harvest the 3 points.”
With the tension that’s building up at the Parklands HC, Tevine Jamine had the following to say in an interview. “We have lost a number of matches but that does not cement our fate to relegation. Our focus is now aimed at our match with green sharks where we hope to drown them.”
Telkom will be facing Amira Sailors in the women’s premier league. With Telkom pinning Strathmore ladies last weekend and Amira sailors sliding one past sliders for the victory, the bar is high for both teams- making their upcoming match unpredictable.
