Season 2020 kick off

It was all systems go as the 2020 Kenya Hockey Union season bullied off. The first match week started off with total entertainment. Saturday saw relegated Women Premier League side Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT Wildcats) fall to a promotion hungry side University of Nairobi by a goal to nil.

Daystar University men pulled a two-all draw against University of Nairobi in the Eastern conference of the men’s National League tie played at the Strathmore University sports complex.

In the men’s super league tie, it was sweet revenge for Kenyatta University Vultures who trounced rivals Multimedia University  by four goals to one. Technical University lost grip as they fell to KCA University by a solitary goal.

The highlight of the day was the battle between last season’s Premier League relegated sides that saw Parklands Sports Club fall to Nairobi Sikh Union by two goals to four to keep their target of getting back to the Premier League alive. Allan Odongo and Frankline Kiyondi were on target for Parklands while Haggai Pepela, Peter Njoroge, Harvir Ghataire and Hosea Walucho scored for Sikh Union.

BOA Vikings and TUK ladies shared a point each after a one-all draw in the Sunday’s early morning match. It was baptism by fire for debutants Nairobi Chapel who were hummered 11 goals to nil by Multimedia University (MMU) ladies. Promoted side JKUAT men handed MMU men their second loss of the season, beating them by a solitary goal. On the other hand, KU shares the spoils against TUK.

In the women premier League, Amira Sailors  handed promoted side Oranje Leonas by 3 goals to nil making them sit top of the log.
