Kenyatta University confident for a fourth league win against KCA
In one of the midweek league matches, a Thika-road university derby will be up under floodlights at City Park as two university sides will battle out in the Kenya Hockey Mens’ Premier League. A win for Kenyatta University puts them fourth on the league table, two points ahead of Wazalendo, KCA University on the hand need a win to move a point ahead of champions Strathmore University who are placed eighth in the table. Kenyatta University better known as Vultures will be led upfront by prolific striker Lawrence Makhatsa who has recovered from from an injury he picked up during their match against former champions and third placed Butali Warriors. “It’s a do or die for us since this is a very crucial match and we all need this points, we have been training hard after our last match and we will prove we are the best side in tomorrow’s match” said Makhatsa who is also the Kenyatta University skipper. On the other hand KCA University are having a blow as one of their best attackers Shadrack Ruto will not be available due to undisclosed circumstances, the side has had row of poor performances but according to tactician Luke Mbom he believes his side will take on the Vultures with confidence as he excepts nothing less than a win from his side.
Parklands hoping for first win
In another midweek encounter, Parklands Sports Club will play USIU-Africa, Parklands who are 14th placed with only three points from three draws, two points ahead of bottom placed debutants Technical University of Kenya (TUK) are hoping for their first win against 12th placed UISU-A. The students however lost their last match to a well-organized Butali Warriors, they believe they will take a comfortable win against the Parklands-based side however the Parklands lads who displayed a much tactical game in their last two ties against Wazalendo and Parkroad Badgers and are hoping for a win. “I believe in my teammates and the technical team as well, what am expecting is a win because we have prepared a lot” said Kelly Adolwa the Parklands Sports Club skipper. Parklands have not registered any win in their last seven matches however come into the match with an advantage of experienced players compared to the young USIU-A side.
