The Kenya Under 18 National Hockey team are confident to take on India in their third group stage match at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires today.
According to Kevin Lugalia the team’s coach, he believes they are able to hold India who are the tournament favorites despite their two early losses to Australia and Canada. “We have to be at our best defensively and also offensively, I believe we will be able to produce the best result from this match regardless of us being the underdogs,” said Lugalia.
Kenya lost their first two matches in the group stages to Australia and Canada respectively with the Aussies scoring seven goals to nil. Brian Ongenche’s two goals and Olando Ouma’s goal in the second half were not enough to help Kenya overcome Canada in their second match of the Group stages as Kenya lost 3-4.
Kenya are placed fifth on the group standings above Bangladesh who have equally not won a single match in the competition on the other hand, India are placed at the top of the standings having won 10-0 against Bangladesh and 9-1 against Austria.
