It was a day of mixed results in the Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League as league leaders Butali Warriors managed a 5-0 win against Parklands Sports Club and second placed Green Sharks shared spoils with Nakuru.
Butali Warriors started off well as the evergreen forward George Mutira scored the opener in the fifth minute, Constant Wakhura later doubled up the scores in the 11th minute through a penalty stroke past Parkland’s shotstopper Farhad Shire. Seth Oburu went ahead to score in the 27th minute to make the scores 3-0. Other scores for the match were Emmanuel Simiyu and Zack Aura who scored in the 38th and 42nd minutes respectively.
In another men’s Premier League match played in Nakuru, third placed Green Sharks came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with hosts Nakuru. Nakuru’s defender took the hosts to the lead early in the first quarter through a penalty stroke and Green Shark’s midfielder Victor Osiche levelled up the scores with a penalty stroke later in the second quarter to help his side salvage a draw.
In the women’s Premier League, Vikings suffered a 1-6 loss to Amiras. Amiras midfielder Leah Omwadhi was at her best in the match scoring a brace for her side, other scorers for Amiras were: Yvonne Madowo, Lorraine Nondi, Jedidah Zawadi and Yvette Kanyandong. Vikings got their lone goal in the 41st minute through Valery Mugono.
