Green Sharks came back from three goals down to win 4-3 against defending champions Kenya Police in their Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier league match played at the City Park stadium.
Kenya Police forged ahead in the ninth minute with a Sammy Oungo goal through a penalty stroke. Amos Barkibir doubled up the scores for the law enforcers in the 26th minute through a field goal and later completed his brace in the 32nd minute to make the scores 3-0.
Green Sharks’ resilience paid off in the 45th minute as Chris Wokila scored past Kenya Police goalkeeper Martin Agesa, Kevin Simiyu doubled up the scores for Green Sharks in the 45th minute and added a second goal to his name in the 52nd minute. Green Sharks forward Chris Muchwanju seemed to be wasteful earlier in the match but scored the winning goal in the 55th minute to make the scores 4-3, the third consecutive win for the ‘Sharks’, a performance which defender Daniel Obunyasi applauded his side for the good fighting spirit.
In another men’s premier League match, Butali Warriors beat visiting side Western Jaguars 4-0 with goals from George Mutira, Vincent Odhiambo, Hannington Otieno and Brian Musasia.
In the men’s Super League, Wazalendo Masters came back from two goals down to beat Kenyatta University 4-2.
In other grounds, visiting side Kenyatta University women beat Nakuru 1-0 in their women’s Super League match played in Nakuru while Park Road Tigers beat Bay Club 2-1 in their men’s National League match played in Kisumu.
