The Daystar University Hockey team is mourning the untimely death of their veteran and former player Dan Garang Nyacharo. Nyacharo featured for the Kenya Hockey Union men’s National League side between 2009 to 2015 and served the Daystar hockey team with grit, passion and enthusiasm as a goalkeeper.
Alongside his hard work and dedication, he ensured that kindness patience was served as any sailor would have liked. This helped propel his team from one level to another making his hockey career a smooth one. He earned himself a spot of a mentor, a leader and a role model.
Before his untimely death, he played magic with words where he was a guru in twisting words and making images out of them. A touch of a poet, the mindset of a therapist. With growth, he was married to Mauryn Cheyenne whom they weeded on April 2017. He ensured that he left a spark of joy in people that he interacted with.
Nyacharo met his ultimate death while traveling back to Nairobi from Nakuru in a greasy road accident. The family has lost a son, a brother, an in-law, a friend to many and a husband.
Our heartfelt condolences go to the family of the deceased and the Daystar Hockey Fraternity at large. Our words may not be soothing enough but a legend has fallen. May the Family find solace in this trying moment
