Former Kenyan International and multi -Olympian Surjeet Singh Panesar also known as 'Sindhi' passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in Nairobi. Surjeet Singh Panesar (Jr) affectionately known as Sindhi was born in Nairobi, Kenya. His parents had immigrated to Kenya from India in 1919. He studied at Duke of Gloucester School in Nairobi and went to India for further studies in 1954. He studied at Maharaja Patiala Public School and Patiala University. He played hockey for his School and University teams and during School holidays he played for Mohindra College. Sikh Union Nairobi set to launch new stadium

The Sikh Union Club Nairobi will be the first club in Kenya to own an Olympic size artificial turf as they are set to launch their new stadium on Monday, July 22, 2019. The hockey stadium, which is the second full size Olympic size artificial pitch to be installed in Kenya, will be named The Dashmesh Hockey Stadium, after the 10th Guru, Siri Guru Gobin Singh Ji. The African Hockey Road to Tokyo 2020 fixtures have been released by the African Hockey Federation with the continental showpiece scheduled to be played in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 12-18 August, 2019. The Kenyan men's Hockey National team has been seeded in Group A with neighbors Uganda, Nigeria and hosts South Africa while Group B consists of Ghana, Namibia, Egypt and Zimbabwe. The Kenyan fraternity is mourning the death of Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) player Cecilia Wamakonjio who passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 while undergoing treatment at the Agha Khan Hospital in Mombasa. It has been a successful day for the Kenyan teams in the ongoing Targeted Assistant Program (TAP) East Africa Hockey 5's tournament where Kenya is being represented by two teams each in the boys and girls categories at the City Park Stadium.
