Battle for the Titans in the women’s KUSA Hockey National play-offs

Friday, April 19, 2019 marked the start of the three-day Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) National championships held at Kenyatta University. The match between Kisii University and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) started with a lot of energy from both sides which was expected as it was the first match of the day for both teams. MMUST however seemed to have been disoriented and on the low after missing a couple of goals that were at their disposal and this even worsened after Kisii got their first goal which turned out to be the lone goal of the match scored by Beatrice Muaka in thethird minute of the match. United States International University-Africa (USIU-A) and Kenyatta University teams won big today in the first day of the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) National playoffs played at the Kenyatta University grounds. Green Sharks captain Victor Osiche brace ensured his side won past a resilient United States International University -Africa (USIU-A) in their Kenya Hockey Union men's Premier League match played at the City Park stadium today. The match started on a high with both teams dominating play, Green Sharks' efforts in front of goal bore fruits as USIU-A's Felix Kiptoch mishandled the ball inside the circle prompting umpire David Omwaka to send him off and award a penalty stroke which was converted by Osiche in the 19th minute of the match. Coast Region will play host to this year's Kenya Secondary Schools Nationals for term 1 games set to be played from Teusday, 9th April, 2019. With a couple of teams appearing for the first time in the championship, M-Pesa Foundation will make their debut in the boy's category while Hillcrest make a return in the girl's category after some years out. In girls pool B, Western Region representatives Misikhu, Nairobi representatives Hillcrest, Central's Kerugoya and Coast's Bura will be battling for the title.
